Mikey Mic is the Stockholm sensation storming Hype Machine with his Rolling Stone-acclaimed remixes and no-nonsense attitude to big room electro remixes.
First it was his remake of Jay-Z (feat. Alicia Keys) - Empire State of Mind, which stormed the Hype Machine charts and gathered him blog love from across the world. Then he launched his brand new website - www.mikeymic.com with a great video explaining what he's all about (see below) And now he's taking on hiphop legend Pharoahe Monch with a Bloody Beetroots-esque rework which is sure to slay some dancefloors, download the two versions below, let us know which one you prefer, and feel free to show this man some blog love!

An-ten-nae Acid Crunk Vol.2 ! ! Freebies!

An-ten-nae just released his new mixtape on Muti Music - and "Acid Crunk Vol.2" and has truly smashed the Beatport charts with a #1 in Dubstep and #1 in Chillout (a first in Beatport history!), plus five more tracks from the album in the top ten Dubstep tracks.

To celebrate we've got some free goodies to give away. There's a Freeland remix and an Akira Kateshi original to give away below, which are fucking great btw.

San Fransisco DJ An-ten-nae has long been a purveyor of fine exotic beats and low slung crunk. Described as a true "San Fransisco gem" by SF Station and a universally recognised pioneer of the Acid Crunk sound sweeping the Pacific coast of America, he's been in the game for fifteen years and owns his own distribution company as well as founding F-8, one of the first record stores in San Fransisco.

The new mixtape is a journey through Acid Crunk - a no rules genre bending booty shakin’ synthesis of the dirty dirty that makes that subs in your low rider bump. In the words of Martin Turenne (Straight.com) the Acid Crunk sound “Conjures the druggy textures of early house and the fearsome bass of millennial hip-hop, marrying the West Coast breaks sound with the brooding atmospheres of London's dubstep scene.”

Act Yo Age feat. Drop the Lime - Night of the Hornheadz‏

From the depths of the nocturnal jungle, where lions are not the biggest cats and silence not the greatest calm, comes Night of the Hornheadz, where basslines, horns and appegiated? synthlines sound the wild of the night!

Sydney bass bastions of bounce Act Yo Age pack with Trouble and Bass ‘ Brooklyn native Drop the Lime, on this jungle jam..letting fly that the dawn of the horn is truly upon us.

Opening proceedings is the bouncy original which glides along nice n smooth, like the pre-attack crocodile before pouncing down into the dark n dirty and then jacking back up again, after the kill.

On da mixes, Bird Peterson takes it up a notch with some very BIG bass juxtaposed with some dope breaks and moroder-esque-ness, dubsided’s Sticky K heads straight for the throne with some unrelenting beats and rhythms, sweat’s own DCUP drops his trademark disco flavours on the mix to full effect, Acid Kids get all techno while Spruce Lee takes the indie-nu-disco approach with great success.

Excuse Me is the cheeky name of one of the more talented and brave clubnights in Italy, and now it is giving name to the DJ team as well.

Miles after miles, bpm’s after bpm’s, since that debut night in early 2006 all run with authentic enthusiasm, eclecticism and savoir faire, the same ingredients made Excuse Me one of the most tattled (and requested) DJ team in Europe, already considered in Italy a sort of a reference when it’s time to scout for remixes, white labels and disco/rock clashes.

Excuse Me got indeed a an appealing and very own vibe, built up on a territory where electro bangs with indie-rock. In the most recent sets, the DJ’s got more unpredictable, still loving the pounding beats they tend to match them with re-edited classic anthems which results in an exciting show, you shouldn’t be surprised then to hear an 80’s underground dance hit or an English punk anthem... or more likely, some obsure re-edit of such.

Excuse Me has been involved in many collaborations with fashion players as well, such as WeSC (who sponsored some Italian dates in 2007), Swear shoes (sponsor since early days), YourEyesLie (partner for Italian and international dates), Replay (Excuse Me recorded an exclusive DJ mix who got 18000 downloads in three months), ...

Trivia: Excuse Me are proud to remark they have booked friends The Bloody Beetroots in Venice, for what was their first live gig (Spring 2007)

Free track from Kitsune 8 - Beni - Maximus (Harvard Bass Remix)

The people from Kitsune where kind enough to share with us one of the 20 tracks to be released on the next Kitsune 8. I cant fuckin wait for that btw. Enjoy the new mix for Beni´s "Maximus" by Hardvard Bass.

Bang Gang 12 Inches Compilation

Australia's finest dimensioneering-dance label,
BangGang 12inches has teamed up with Modular to release their
very own label compilation this October. Aptly named,
"The BangGang 12inches Compilation", the release swims across
two shiny discs, one mixed and one unmixed, featuring
Bang Gang 12's finest releases from the last four years with
additional unreleased and exclusive material. The
track-listing proves that beyond the parties that Bang Gang
are infamous for, their true talent lies in uncovering some
of the most innovative dance music talent that Australia has
to offer.

In 2005, Doom & Hoodrat from The Bang Gang Deejays created
BangGang 12inches, in an effort to shine a light on a
boutique selection of Australian artists' present at the
forefront of the dance music scene, breaking new ground and
sending crowds into frenzies night after night.
KIM (The Presets), Muscles and Nicky Van She are amongst the
many artists who have launched their careers after releasing
on Bang Gang 12's. After four years of operation, 20 releases
and uncovering a plethora of talent, Bang Gang 12's has
established itself internationally as the frontrunner for
releasing the finest in Australian dance music.

Today, Bang Gang 12's roster consists of the most progressive
dance music artists from across Australia and around the
globe, with; KIM, The Deathset, Soft Tigers, Lost Valentinos,
Bag Raiders, ZZZ, Shazam, Hey Today!, GLOVES, Golden Bug,
Cassian, The Lowbrows and Like Woah! consistently delivering
the goods, simultaneously setting speakers and hearts on fire
with their own brand of feel-good dance music.

In support of Bang Gang 12's compilation, they are sharing with us
two unreleased / exclusive tracks only featured in the comp.

OG (Owain Griffiths) is a Manchester based producer and DJ with a long running show on NuSkoolBreaks Radio and previous remixes of Emmet, Roots Manuva and even Biggie Smalls under his belt. His new EP "Bubbling" is chock full of grimy bass, tight rhythms and a spacey vibe, out right now on Midnight Minus Two.

Owain is a new kid to releasing tunes, but it doesn’t really show. Merging beats, rhythms and melodies from dance music that were around a long time before he was, with

influences of broken beat, glitch, ragga and the huge heaviness of old school dub sound systems this EP should seriously mash some heads!

you can stream all the new ep on his space http://www.myspace.com/og42
and also I recommend strongly one of the tracks from his previous EP, which is fucking great. and i do mean it.

Listen all a y´ all it´s a Sabotage!!

Now this is what i call a fuckin great track. not to mention the difficulty to cover an already amazing track. the Penelopes deliver a new vision of an old classic, Sabotage by the beastie boys (hell yeah). Forget about the rappin side of it cause its all in the edgy base and the deep kicks.
With a darkier look and more synthethic u could imagine this is a must for all beastie boys lovers and haters as well. DIG!

Meet Pance Party ! ! + mix for Presets ! ! ! !

The last time we spoke to the Midnight Juggernauts they were beefing with John Travolta and in the throes of a national tour for their debut LP "Dystopia". Fast forward 18 months and the interstate trio are penciling in collaborations with Solange Knowles, Beyonce's sister, and on the cusp of releasing their sophomore album. My how the times have changed. We spoke to drummer Daniel Stricker about working on the new album, receiving underwear from Japanese fans, touring the world and the importance of doing things independently. This is a fucking juggernaut of an interview so let's dive into it shall we?

P: What have the Midnight Juggernauts been up to since Dystopia?

MJ: Well we’ve toured a lot and I’ve been trying to improve my cooking skills in my time off. I’ve been enjoying my time at home. (Laughs) Nah, we were touring all of last year overseas so we got back in November and Dystopia only came out overseas in April of last year so since then we’ve just been kind of writing, recording, demoing and yeah, cooking.

P: Yeah? What have you been cooking? Do you cook for Vin and Andy?

MJ: I have cooked for Andy once and he didn’t like it, he didn’t eat it. But yeah, I’ve been cooking.

P: How’s the reaction been overseas?

MJ: Overseas was really great last year, we didn’t really know what to expect but it’s funny how far music can travel - as I said we put the album out in April. But it was crazy how much it had already grown just from being online. It doesn’t really matter so much these days getting the physical product out, it’s good because you get the whole package and it’s something you collect and everything, but it had already built a lot before that.

All in all it was really good, we played some massive shows, we did pretty much every festival you’d dream of doing. And it was amazing, I’ve got great photos, my iPhone is full of photos.

P: So the staggered release schedule internationally didn’t really change anything?

MJ: No not really because it was online. I mean you want it to sync up, and on this new record I’m pretty sure it will, but the online thing – it does its thing these days.

P: So where are the Midnight Juggernauts big around the world?

MJ: It’s really weird, it was really good in Europe. It’s funny because we were in France a lot last year, we actually had an apartment there for two months and I was checking some statistic somewhere, I can’t remember where it was, but it said in France the fans were double that of Australia. It was just really crazy.

Slyde (aka Robin 12Tree and Jason Laidback) have been gracing the breaks scene with their unique style of layered beats since 2002.
Their last four singles released under Finger Lickin’ have sold over 15,000 records. Stemming from a wealth of influences spanning hip hop, rave, funk, big beat and electrifyingly bouncy break beats, Slyde presented a whole new mash up, multi-level sound with their widely acclaimed debut album 'Everyone's Entitled To Our Opinion' (Finger Lickin’)
A little know fact is that Jason was none other than Kylie Minogue’s scratch DJ on her ‘Fever’ tour and a well known fact is that Slyde know how to deliver the funk to the masses and this next release is no exception!

Every Slyde single has reached the top five of DJ Magazine’s Beats Chart, receiving extensive radio play on renowned stations such as Kiss FM, X FM and Radio 1 etc. After a chance introduction to Keith Flint of The Prodigy, he immediately recognized their talent, the trio collaborated onClever Brains Fryin’..
