SPECTOR - NEAR THE MARK

PRINCE - KISS (SPECTOR FRENCH KISS MIX)

LA ROUX - BULLETPROOF
(SPECTOR´S WINGS OF STEEL MIX)

Spector the band have been around for a while now in one shape or another, in its original conception it comprised of John-Paul Denton and John Elliott but it is now just John-Paul who writes under this name.

In its early conception the pair worked on various tracks and remixes for the likes of Steve Lawler and Dave Seaman, and appeared on compilations by Nick Warren and John Digweed.

They have appeared on Playstaion, PC and Wii games and written for big TV ad campaigns. In the last 2 years John-Paul has been working on various genres of music under the Spector guise and recently began to complete his new pop tinged project of electronic fuelled dance music, with collaborations on each track from various singers, including John Elliott.

Meet JUMP JUMP DANCE DANCE !!!

- Hot off the heels of their unreleased leaked studio jam, Do It For
Love, (Bigstereo #1; FBI A Rotation; “Summer anthem.” Sam La More;
“JJDD rule my world and will soon rule yours” Mikah Freeman, The Aston
Shuffle), duo Jump Jump Dance Dance present their debut single
Show Me The Night.
- A driving slice of punk-funk magic, Show Me The Night
was mixed by heavyweight US producer/mixer Dave Sardy (the man responsible for
records from Wolfmother, Oasis, Soulwax and The Ting Tings).
- The track marks their music video debut with a phenomenal clip
directed by hot-as-hell LA director Claire Carre (best known for her
stunning clip for SIA’s Soon We’ll Be Found).
- Touring Australia nationally in February/March, playing live for
Future Music Festival.
- Released 26th February on etcetc.

JUMP JUMP DANCE DANCE BIO:

It’s unusual for an up and coming band to have a pedigree as impressive
as that of Los Angeles electro-rock conspirators Jump Jump Dance Dance.
But as it stands, the duo of Chris Carter and Simon Lewicki had amassed
a wealth of experience – Carter as an in-demand DJ and vocalist who has
played alongside such luminaries of the LA scene as DJ AM and Tommie
Sunshine, and Simon as the mastermind behind the celebrated club acts
Groove Terminator, Tonite Only and Chili Hifly – before uniting to
create Jump Jump Dance Dance.

But Jump Jump Dance Dance isn’t about rehashing former glories, as
glorious as they may be. Instead, it’s an all-new beast with its own
unique energy and style. First coming together over a shared love of
synthesizers, Australian culture and sweaty dance floors, the renowned
studio wizards began to furiously write the blueprint of the Jump Jump
Dance Dance sound, exploring and tweaking the happy medium between dance
and rock music. Clearly, the pair were onto something special as their
first batch of demos immediately hooked Australian imprint etcetc - the
home of PNAU (producers of Empire Of The Sun) and Lost Valentinos
(helmed by super-producer Ewan Pearson) as well as internationals Mylo,
Datarock and The Knife.

Determined to once-and-for-all perfect the ultimate hybrid between these
two often-disparate genres, the duo elevated themselves above the
electro scene by turning Jump Jump Dance Dance into a fully-fledged,
truly organic live band where instantaneous guitar riffs collide with
towering synths and club energy.

The duo’s fascination with melding genres carried over to the recording
process for their debut LP, which saw them recruit heavyweight US
producer/mixers Dave Sardy (the man responsible for records from
Wolfmother, Oasis, Soulwax and The Ting Tings) and Mark Needham (The
Killers, Bloc Party, 3OH!3), as well as Australian dance industry
veteran Sameer Sengupta (a.k.a. Poxy Music a.k.a. Pocket 808, provider
of legendary mixes for Alter Ego and Green Velvet) to lend his
formidable experience to some final mixes.

The first bolt of dancefloor lightning to impact was the unreleased
leaked studio jam, Do It For Love, a blue-eyed slice of funk that has
sent hearts swooning across the blogosphere (Bigstereo #1) and the club
circuit (“Summer anthem.” Sam La More; “A most excellent project”
Goodwill; “JJDD rule my world and will soon rule yours” Mikah Freeman,
The Aston Shuffle). But the it’s duo’s deliriously good debut single
Show Me The Night which is set to put this band on the map, not to
mention their stream of floor-ready remixes for La Roux, Zoot Woman, and
etcetc label-mates MSTRKRFT.

With their debut album under lock and key for the moment, Jump Jump
Dance Dance are preparing to spread the electro-rock gospel to new fans
with killer live shows and a slew of turbo-charged remixes on the way.
Although it’s still very early days for the band, Jump Jump Dance Dance
aren’t wasting any time in showing us all exactly why they’ve come so
far so quickly. Expect to get converted any minute now.

C-Mon & Kypski "Turn Of The Tides EP"

http://spreadthenoise.com/audio/boemklatsch/15-12543056410.jpg

Eclectic visionaries C-Mon & Kypski proved themselves as genre-bending geniuses on their last album, Where the Wild Things Are, which Esquire Magazine fondly referred to as, “The hot shit in Europe right now.” 3 years later, and with extensive European and US touring under their belts, C-Mon & Kypski are back in the studio working their magic to shatter expectations and take their music to the next level with their upcoming release titled: “We Are Square”, scheduled for October 2009.

Over the course of C-Mon & Kypski’s previous three albums and the last two years spent on the road in Europe, North America and South Africa, the band has evolved from a hip-hop and electronica led turntablist duo to a bombastic, four-piece powerhouse of musical talent. The group is comprised of enigmatic producer and founding member C-Mon, fellow founding member and 6-time DMC Dutch DJ champion Kypski, Dutch Keyboardist of the Year* Jori, and guitar slinging, multi-instrumentalist, Daniel. On this highly anticipated new album, C-Mon promises an experience that’s, “…more uptempo with more guitars, more synths, more weird samples and just as wacky a ride as before!” The last album featured guests ranging from jazz musicians to rappers to a Klezmer Band, and mashed everything from flamenco to dub step. The new album maintains their unique, collaborative nature while adding new elements. As Jori asserts: “We haven’t left our electronic roots behind, we’re just exploring our skills as musicians further.”

It’s difficult to classify C-Mon & Kypski’s sound, but if you were to imagine DJ Shadow, Beck, Gogol Bordello, Fela Kuti, Super Furry Animals, and Justice crammed into a van and left to collaborate, you’ll be on your way to understanding what C-Mon and Kypski is all about. C-Mon & Kypski’s music is a fresh and unique blend of upbeat, foot-stomping sounds that have wowed critics across the globe. As Netherland’s leading music magazine, Oor, said, C-Mon & Kypski is, “Exciting and original, there’s nothing catchier!”

Their last tour, a musical and visual extravaganza dubbed, “Circus C-Mon & Kypski” impressed fans and promoters alike at The Netherlands’ biggest festivals, Pinkpop and Lowlands, and saw the band execute a triumphant national tour that culminated at the internationally prestigious North Sea Jazz festival. The band also reaped the rewards of two extensive US tours, featuring highly lauded performances at SXSW, The Roxy in LA, the Fillmore East at Irving Plaza in NY, Popscene in SF and the Metro in Chicago. C-Mon & Kypski are a band at the top of their game, yet constantly evolving. They are poised to make a global impact with We Are Square, which captures their exhilarating, daring and category busting sound.

on the news...

Billed as "the world's first street art disaster movie" incognito stencil artist Banksy will premiere his debut feature film "Exit Through The Gift Shop" at Sundance this weekend. Judging from the trailer it's all shaky guerrilla footage, late night bombings with the likes of Shepard Fairey and Monsieur Andre as well as less anarchistic shenanigans like screaming at elderly cashiers and walking into poles. This could either be really silly or really great, we're assuming it's the latter. Check out the trailer below.

You gotta love Coachella's oft-pant-wetting annual lineup announcement. Not for the assortment of awesome on offer (as non-attendees we try not to think about that) but its strict hierarchical billing with its ruthless but simple font protocol. Popularity/relevance/critical acclaim is directly proportional to font size.

So judging from Muse's SHOUTY SLAP IN THE FACE BILLING we can glean that they're ten times the band Yo La Tengo are. Across genres we can assume that 2ManyDjs and The Dead Weather possess equal cache in their respective fields ("Mashup brother DJs" and "Bands with Jack White in them").

We can also assume that the Aussie contingent (The Temper Trap, The Middle East, Kate Miller-Heidke and Sia) are blips in the American music landscape but slightly more significant than LA Producer/DJ Pablo Hassan. And finally we can surmise that "Thom Yorke ????" (literally) is bigger than almost anything except animated primates and 90's nostalgia.

Entertainment Weekly has the scoop on Thom Yorke's enigmatic billing: "His reps tell the Music Mix that he intends to perform with the same backing band he assembled for a handful of Los Angeles dates last fall - Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, producer Nigel Godrich, and seasoned session hands Joey Waronker and Mauro Refosco. Yorke never got around to naming the new band back then, resulting in some mysterious marquee displays around L.A., and now he's decided to stick with the same question marks to indicate those guys' presence."

Get that bib out and prepare to salivate below...

Bang Gang presents Cassian + free tracks inside

CASSIAN "Friday Night" Ep
Unleashed 16.12.09

From the bright sunny heights of Sydney suburbia, after months spent tweaking in his studio/parents living room comes the original fuuuuuunky-fresh Zulu synth warrior, Cassian, with his 3 track release on BangGang 12s. This is Cassian’s debut outing after remixing the likes of Empire of the Sun, Bag Raiders, Damn Arms, Classix and Miami Horror.

The lead track, “Friday Night” is the perfect weekend synth jam with wah wah guitar, disco vocals, stabbing guitar chords, horn stabs and more.

“Final Round” is feel good summer opus with distorted bassline (of course), arcade game samples, knockout drums and filters filters fiLters. The “Fuck Song” (as the title suggests) is a super smooth jazz piano funk number with strat riffs, filtered funk chords, trumpet stabs, crooning vibrato solos and a smoooooooooth deep synth bassline.

Lots more coming from this kid real soon.

Cool shit! Adidas vs Star Wars !

A long time ago in a galaxy far far away Darth Vader, Snoop Dogg, David Beckham AND Daft Punk appeared in the same television commercial and it was awesome. That's what future geeks from the Planet Unobtanium might say of this chest pumping 60 second spot from the new Adidas/Star Wars line which re-imagines George Lucas' opus as a hip hop video.

Granted, anyone looks cool when they're slow motion walking through ruby tinted fog but when that dude is Darth Vader and the soundtrack is a chuggy remix of the "Imperial Theme Song" that's like "I just knocked out Mike Tyson and Chuck Norris with sheer intimidation" levels of bravado.

The urban meets sci-fi vibe continues with flares, street parties, X-Wings, lightsaber baseball bats and cameos by David Beckham, Snoop Dogg and Daft Punk. Then we can only assume it's off the ultimate house party in the Millennium Falcon hull with Daft Punk on the decks and Snoop in the corner trying to use Vader's breathing apparatus as a vaporizer. Check out the ad and Star Wars inspired Adidas pieces below...
