BIG SHOT UPDATE!!

LCD Soundsystem Says ‘F.U.’ To Scalpers By Adding Extra Shows

Minds boggled and tear ducts opened wide when LCD Soundsystem sent the blogosphere into something approaching cardiac arrest by announcing their upcoming final show ever, set for April 2nd at Madison Square Garden, with none other than old school NYC punk-funk pioneers Liquid Liquid opening up. And what seemed like a mere nanosecond later, accusations started flying, as all available tickets were snapped up in a heartbeat, and some scalpers were charging well into the thousands for tix. Many cried “foul play,” pointing the finger of blame at everyone from Ticketmaster to the band itself, suggesting that tickets were being held back on purpose to fetch higher prices on Stubhub and the like. The weepy lovefest that accompanied LCD’s initial announcement of impending retirement quickly turned ugly, as hardcore fans found themselves shut out and put out, seething with bitterness and resentment.

What could be done to salvage the soiled vibe and keep the band’s swan song from ending on a sour note? LCD mainman James Murphy apparently had an idea in that direction; he acted quickly, by adding four more shows, from March 28-31st, at the much smaller Terminal 5, at lower ticket prices. Addressing the matter in no uncertain terms, Murphy commented “we’ve come up with the best solution I can think of, as quickly as possible so as to deflate the market for those scalping scumfucks…I just want to give people who actually want to see us a chance to see us. For a reasonable ticket price. And I want to drop the price of the MSG tickets being sold by piece of shit scalpers.” An admirable goal, Mr. Murphy — we wish you luck and eagerly await the inevitable reunion tour, however long it may take you to get around to it.

Tickets for LCD Soundsystem’s four T5 shows go on sale February 18. Ticket holders will be required to show ID day of show to gain entry. There will be a two-ticket limit per customer.

BSTV: Wolfgang Gartner

Currently riding high on the success of his new single, “Illmerica,” Big Shot caught up with the electro master Wolfgang Gartner at the Hudson Hotel the day before his gig at Pacha New York. In this exclusive video Gartner, who is up for a Grammy in the Best Remixed Recording (Non Classical) category for his mix of Andy Caldwell’s “Funk Nasty” featuring vocals by Gram’ma Funk, recounts how he learned about his Grammy nod via Twitter and gives us the lowdown on his upcoming debut album due out later in the year.

British electro DJ/producer, Fake Blood has reworked the latest single from Noah And The Whale titled “L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N.” The already much praised original song has BBC Radio 1′s Zane Lowe spouting that it’s the “hottest record in the world right now,” which makes you wonder why Fake Blood would want to mess with a good thing.

We’re thrilled he did, ’cause his added layers of percussion and strings elevates the track in all of the right ways. Take a listen yourself and download it below.

Noah And The Whale’s third album titled Last Night On Earth will be landing here in the US on March 15th via Mercury Records. A handful of tour dates will follow surrounding this year’s SXSW Festival in Austin.
