from Gigwise
From an ominous title springs an one crazy song. ‘The Bears Are Coming’, the latest single from Late Of The Pier, is a psych-tribal fusion like you haven’t heard since, well, the last time you heard a psych-tribal record. With an equally disturbing but fabulous video, it’s a song that will be well worth checking out when it’s released on March 10th.

from NME

Despite growing up just down the road from where the Download festival takes place in Castle Donington, modern primitives LOTP have so far managed to resist the lure of the goth leash, the emo fringe or the flame-covered metal boots, instead preferring to paint themselves with geometric patterns and create music as likely to be inspired by arcade machine bleeps as dancehall rhythms. Third single ‘The Bears Are Coming’ is a compelling piece of burbling electronica that sounds not unlike C-3PO breakdancing on broken glass. Which is great obviously.

TRASH FASHION - WHY CANT WE BE FRIENDS

CD PROMO
NO CAT or LABEL YET

01. Why Can't We Be Friends
02. Something IV Nothing
03. Too Much Pressure
04. Why Can't We Be Friends (Mason Storms 2 Hottie Mix)
05. Why Can't We Be Friends (Jet Storms Vocal Gymnastathon)

I shared the Jet Storm remix cause the Mason one was all over the blog scene so its useless to do it again and again. I would go for the mason or the original one though.

Record of The Day:Trash Fashion continue to impress with strong genre-bridging songs like this, the lead from their next EP. 'Why Cant We Be Friends' also features on a Japanese exclusive mini album released though Vinyl Junkie in May. Currently on tour, including many 'all ages' dates as part of a full UK jaunt, we know their live shows are fun as they played the RotD 5th birthday party at ITC last year.

Unpeeled: Bleeping, yelping, fractured disco-brat-beating with a kind of perverted art-math rock going on. Trash Fashion are a wonderful band.

Subba Cultcha: Jerky, electronic tinged, angular pop-rock....Bridging the gap between Garbage, Shit Disco and Jesus Jones, Trash Fashion make a gleeful noise – full of eighties camp and noughties ubercool. Effortlessly talented – and most importantly, they know how to structure a song. Hurrah!

CAZALS - Life Is Boring

LABEL: KITSUNE FRANCE

CAT: KITSUNE 070MA

FORMAT: 12´´

RELEASED: 11 MARCH 2008

01 Life Is Boring (7inch Mix)
02 Life Is Boring (Ali Love Harder Mix)
03 Life Is Boring (Rory Philips Motorik Mix)
04 Life Is Boring (Crookers No Fear To Fly Remix)

from Clashmusic

The trendy French label Kitsune broke their own policies of not releasing albums or non-electronic music for Cazals.

You have to wonder why given that Cazal sound like nothing more than a slightly trendier Feeder. Much like their previous single To Cut A Long Story Short, Life Is Boring is a dull rock song with some nu rave tricks tacked on to please their electro masters. The Ali Love remix on the b-side adds some much needed oomph with a thumping bass and clever vocal cuts. It will probably earn Cazals some undeserved success but it’s Love who deserves any plaudits.

from AngryApe

When the Kitsune label slings out another slab of vinyl in your direction, you just know it's going to be something great, if not mind-blowing. Life Is Boring by Cazals may not fall into the latter category, but it shouldn't be instantly tagged with the boringness the title hints at.

There is however an air of monotony lingering thoughout, from the minimal bass and repetitious drums, only occasionally joined by guitars, while the singer (who by the way, is so husky sounding, you keep clearing your own throat while listening) drones on, making the first half of the track pretty forgetful.

Then bizarrely, the pace changes to a faster tempo and saves the remainder of the song. Everything flips suddenly into some quasi-American pop-punk and the moody Cazals are no more; they get jerky, they get energetic and they show a side far more entertaining than the stroppy first few minutes. Life Is Boring they may say, but Cazals are not so dull (well, when they want to be).
