Clad in their usual 70s designer porno artwork, this is the first single for 2007 from In Flagranti. Over the past couple of years they've worked out their own fiendish derivative of techno, house and disco, cutting a niche of decidedly knave-ish tracks. Although utterly original, "Intergalactic Bubblegum" sounds like some sci-fi disco track crossed with a Throbbing Gristle outtake and "EFX 10-11" is Chicago techno meets the BBC Radiophonic Workshop. B-side Bipolar is interesting indeed, a collection of strange synthwave which occasionally settles down into a nu disco groover. - www.piccadillyrecords.com

In Flagranti's first release in 2007 features G. Rizo ("the queen of the galaxy|) with a punky ESG-ish rap over a backing based on Amii Stewart's hi-NRG anthem "Knock On Wood". Its very good!! "EFX IO-II" is more of a bass n bleep rave track whilst on the flip "BiPolar" is a spacy Italo instrumental - Kano meets Pete Shelley. An impressive record that is a perfect encapsulation of the New York buzz!

Exclusive: Ed Banger Delivers Second Comp, Tour

Though the first volume of Ed Banger's Ed Rec series of compilations was just released digitally, the French label is already moving forward with plans for a physical release of Ed Rec Vol. 2.

Unlike Vol. 1, which was retrospective, Vol. 2 will feature 14 new and exclusive tracks, except for Justice's "Phantom" and Mr. Flash's "Disco Dynamite". Ed Banger will release Vol. 2 with Because Music in Europe on March 12 in both CD and double LP formats. Vice will release it digitally on March 6 and physically on April 10 in the U.S., with a currently untitled bonus track by label boss Busy P tacked on. The package also comes with a page of original stickers from the label.

Ed Banger artists Justice, DJ Mehdi, Sebastian, and Busy P will tour North America together in March, after which Justice have a couple dates of their own. Parties in Chicago, Brussels, and Paris will precede the tour.

The compilation isn't the only upcoming Ed Banger release. The label also plans to release 12"s from Mr. Oizo ("Patrick 122"), Busy P ("Rainbow Man", February 26), DJ Mehdi ("Lucky Boy" EP, March 19), and Justice ("D.A.N.C.E", also on CD single April 16). A Justice album is in the works for June.

There was not much around to be honest since at this time of the year most of the local djs are outside so records are not coming in like they should. anyways I managed to get my hands on some really good new, and old vinyls.

First I went to Plasma, one of my 2 favourites record stores in Buenos Aires, that moved recently a little far from my place but I had to pay them a visit. Since they just moved they were not receiving new stuff atm, but one of the guys there found this 1991 old electropop uk record in the process and it went straight to me :)

Not really happy about having only one record on my bag I went straight to Strobe, My other fav record store and the first record I played was the one I took.
Without releasing much in the last 2 years Rework on Playhouse came up with "love love love yeah", a really really darky, minimal housy record with amazing sascha hedgehog on vocals. I love her so much.

RIOT IN BELGIUM - La Musique




Afew hours after I got back home with my recs I got a new mail from Strobe with the new stuff coming the next day and inside the list Riot in Belguim was there. Ive been listening a lot to their new mix for KIM that I took from one of my friends blog so I called and reserved the copy of their new vinyl, "La Musique" with an amazing remix from Adam Sky. We all love him!
