DAMN ARMS 'Destination' REMIXES

After the release of Damn Arms’ two part not-quite-smash-hit-but-should-have-been-“Destination” release early this year, BangGang 12s has roped in a bunch of their favourite artists for remix duties to set the good ship Destination a sail once more. And wow did we get a lot of remixes. Woah. One million and counting.

DerDieDas... The two men with the most German sounding name in dance produced the least sounding German remix possible, turning out a super feel-good melodious synth-heavy retake; Jaunt reworked it into a French-House-Slash- Dark-Trance-affair (is that a new genre?); BangGang (that’s us!) don’t stray too far from original, injecting a tad more acidy balls into it; and Munk lend their signature Gomma-fied blissed out Summer disco vibes to it. Then Cassian (latest stupidly young musical man on BG12s) makes that shit FUNK-Y (yes I did just use the word funky). Mitzi (winner of Spank Records/BangGang12s Destination remix compeition) offer up a slow chugging percussive kinda disco version; Ted & Francis keep things all 80s soundtrack, and Riggarutz turns it into a piece of beautiful eleontronica so nice you feel like crying.

New Empire of the Sun Video - Without You

After expeditions in Shanghai, Mexico, Western Australia and a nondescript underground bunker, our favourite video related party game, "Where In The World Is Empire Of The Sun?" takes its next astrological step - outer space.

In the clip, a lone Luke Steele mans an ivory throne, drinks from an ivory chalice and tames wild beasts while sporting feathers on his shoulders and sullenly stalking his bat cave, a half disco dance floor, half neon light structure that looks like a contemporary Chinese art installation from the year 3000. In other words, it's a regular Empire Of The Sun video.

The Raveonettes - Suicide ! ! !

The Raveonettes release their new album 'In And Out Of Control' on October 5th in the UK through Fierce Panda.

The band play London's Hoxton Bar & Kitchen on Mon 7th Sept 2009. ‘Bang’ - Rye Rye & M.I.A (Stanton Warriors Remix)

The Stanton Warriors are currently in the studio hard at work on their as-yet-untitled new album and are gaining renewed respect for their remix of Rye Rye's 'Bang' (featuring M.I.A.).

Dominic B (one half of the Warriors) said, “It's just a remix but it's been going off. This mix is a taste of what we're up to. We've been working with a lot of US hipster hop rappers and singers on the new album. For us this remix is straight up club thumping music”.

Stanton Warriors laid down a fresh new sound with the seminal ‘Stanton Sessions’ that was instantly signed to XL Recordings. The mix saw off competition from Fat Boy Slim and Deep Dish to win Best Album at the Dance Star Awards, and again at the Muzik Mag Awards where they beat Dave Clarke and Danny Tenaglia, whilst the mix recently featured in Mixmags top 50 best compilations ever industry poll.
