Solid Gold delivers a new track!

Get Over It is the debut UK single release from Solid Gold, a Minneapolis 3-piece who brew up a potent heady mixture of memorable pop hooks, warm synths and dreamy lysergic vocals powered along with a precise & liquid funk. Get Over It is the lead track from Bodies of Water, their debut album recorded over the last 12 months in locations as diverse as abandoned farmhouses, city basements and a cabin on a frozen lake.

They won the 'Lets Get Physical ' contest thrown by WeSC and Vice magazine last year, resulting in them being flown to London to headline the WeSC/Vice event at The Old Blue Last. From there they flew on to Iceland to headline the opening night of last years Airwaves Festival. After turning heads at SXSW earlier this year, they were hand picked to support the Ting Tings in their home town of Minneapolis.

Get Over It will be released as a limited edition 7" in late November, individually numbered; featuring unique sleeves hand-painted by the band, available through all cool indie stores. The band are currently arranging uk dates for early 09. The album will be released shortly after.

Plus Move´s new EP!

Boston before they learned the art of time travel. Both he and Shifrin were playing in rock bands, with their only common thread was a shared interest in Radiohead. “I was actually into producing hip-hop beats when we first met, and I threw Daft Punk in the same category as the bland, repetitive, four-on-the-floor stuff that I couldn’t get into. But once I understood the energy behind it, I started listening to all the other French producers.”

Plus Move got everyone’s attention when they leaked their bootleg remix of Justice’s funk-squelch anthem “D.A.N.C.E” to some of their favorite music blogs back in the summer of 2007. “We first heard the song as a radio rip,” Shifrin recalls. “It wasn’t even the full song or the final version, but we fell in love with it and immediately chopped the shit out of the track to get rid of the radio noise, re-worked it completely and sent it back out to every blog that we liked. Before we knew it, we were getting emails from people all over the world.”

One of those emails got their attention more than the other messages from crazed fans. It was an anonymous invitation to a meeting in a basement underneath M.I.T., just minutes from the Plus Move studio. Shifrin and Mihailoff are reluctant to reveal specifics, but the story goes that they were introduced to someone they refer to cryptically as “Sphinx.” When asked if “Sphinx” is the mythical being described in Egyptian and Greek mythology, Plus Move boldly puts forth that Sphinx “has taken many different forms throughout time.”

The next part of the story may be even less credible, yet the recordings that make up the “2099” EP are presented for your consideration. Plus Move claim to have traveled through time with Sphinx to the year 2099, where together they defeated the evil ruler BOSS. In the ensuing days spent in 2099, Plus Move and Sphinx recorded these songs and brought them back to the present day as documented proof of their travels.

The cool heads at Expansion Team Records, for whom the duo had previously remixed a Ready Fire Aim track, immediately took notice of the change in Shifrin and Mihailoff’s disposition. The “2099” recordings shifted and morphed with more unpredictable dynamics than a multi-car pileup, equal parts apocalypse and apotheosis in the mix. Label boss and fellow futurist Alex Moulton lent his ear to the music, helping co-produce the songs to make them understandable to early-21st century ears.

Plus Move recently relocated to Austin, Texas, a move necessitated by the need for physical space to assemble their next secret project. The duo are reportedly building a structure they believe is a time machine that allows for hundreds (if not thousands) of fans to join them on their subsequent journeys to the future. How’s that for DIY?

Check out one of the three tracks in the EP, "Boss" and start jumpin and dancin. A great track stating the great quality of this new release. Justice, Mstrkft, daft punk fans will love this one.

I LOVE MODULAR

Following on from last years expansive & mind warping compilation Light Sound Dance, The Bang Gang Deejays return with a new double disc mix cd - 'D Is For Disco, E Is For Dancing'.

Included in the mix is the specially commissioned remix of Kicking and Screaming - the opening track on Apocalypso, The Presets new album. With more bang for ya buck, the Bang Gang's E Is For Edit remix of the track introduces a new level of dimensioneering and trance travel to your ears. This all Australian affair gives new life to the already amazing track, that will keep even the most resilient feet on the floor...

Almost a Mullet but not Quite mixtape by Darling Farah

A new mixtape for this week featuring Darling Farah on his second delivery for Almost a Mullet but not Quite. check it , love it!

“This mix Is really a showcase of all the styles of music I am really diving into. Styles of music that are influencing some of my music, like Detroit house, Acid, French touch, maximal, etc. I kind of wanted to steer away from too many tracks that people have probably heard enough of in the blogosphere as well as a lot of distortion. Because personally I think it’s starting to loose its touch aside from a handful of singles. The Wasted Youth intermission was inspired by a guitar solo a friend of mine put together for his band. I wanted to use that for the intermission but he didn’t want me to. Fair enough. So instead you guys get a sense of what I’m not listening to when I take a break from Benga’s 26 basslines. Plus I think it’s an interesting and unique addition to the mix.

The intro is styled after some Miami Bass intro (which is an edit of my latest track “Hair down”) mixed with some classic filter funk vocals that I think we can all appreciate. Only reason I used this sample was because I had the tune in my head for about a week. From there I break in with screeching rave synths from Das Glow an Institubes nerd. Cover some Wiley, a kind of minimal fidget hybrid by Mowgli, then some straight up bubblin’ bassline cooked up by none other than Party Shank. Enough to have any Crookers fan going nuts. All of a sudden were back in the 90’s. Forget nu-rave. Its all about piano stabs and energy. Aside from the banging Mr.Miyagi remix of Fancey Footwork (which might I add is one of those distortion disco tracks that hasn’t lost its touch) you’re going to have a good 5 songs that capture that oldschool feel. Yes Nightcrawlers is here. But with a bit of a twist. After that, Baltimore from France served up by Surkin and Bobmo who combine to form “High Powered Boys”! A force to be reckoned with. Indo Silver Club my all time favourite Daft Punk song is there sounding fresh as ever. Then we take it down slightly with Nacho Lover’s famous The Big Kazoo edit. Followed is the intermission. I’ll let you decide on that one. From here I think I just decided to recap on everything that went on before the intro. For those that weren’t paying attention it involved fidget, filter house, acid, electro, the odd tune here and there, and finally the last song before the intro. Which is what I think is going to keep me in that summer mode all the time. I guess being in the UAE I’m going to feel like that anyway with all the heat, but um…

About that last track, Hair Down. Its my take on rave, Detroit House, Chicago house, and I guess some kind of tech. It should be up for grabs on this space. Download it, pass it around, play it out (its in 320 for all you bitrate nerds).”

Darling Farah Biography
Darling Farah, 16, started his music making affair not too long ago.
 Growing up on Hip-Hop
, he soon moved on to IDM, and later nu-rave. Around this point he also started making his own music.

Then he progressed onto full-on electro (think Ed Banger),
and after that he began listening to all kinds of stuff and a lot of it creeps into his songs.
Darling Farah is really just some kid from Detroit who obsesses over things and is actually a huge nerd. Who also happens to DJ and produce.
