Ali Love has been cooped up in the studio for months - only emerging to the outside world for scattered shows and stolen moments to share with the public his recent material off his much-anticipated album 'Love Harder'. Perhaps you've heard a few singles or have seen the videos that accompany them - Diminishing Returns made a nice cameo on a trailer for Skins and Love Harder remixes have been catching significant radio waves and blog love.
So before his debut album 'Love Harder' and next single 'Smoke & Mirrors' drop on July 26th, here is a free treat just to tide over the hungry. 'Love In Darkness' is sumptuous cosmic taste of what to come, adding fuel to the fire he's started. Enjoy!
A mercurial Merseyside four piece, Wave Machines create instinctive art-pop; rhythms built of melodic ticks and bleeps, polka dots of sound drawn together beneath Tim Bruzon’s falsetto vocal, part Beck Hansen part Barry Gibb. With their English melancholia pricked by impudent promise… Wave Machines join that eccentric lineage of home grown musical adventurers; XTC, The Beta Band, Hot Chip.
Recorded in the bowels of the old organ room at St Brides Church in Liverpool, England, Wave Machines’ debut album Wave If You’re Really There owes much to the character of that formative space. The removal of old religious gowns from a small disused cupboard gave the band a vocal booth; the roof – or rather its view between Liverpool’s Cathedrals and out across the river – allowed the band a space to work things through; and at night the Nave became the bands live space, hosting the poetry, art, comedy and invited musical ‘competitors’ at the bands own night.
Liverpool's best-kept secret craft guitar driven electro-pop brought to boil on a cash converter keyboard and a start-up drum kit. A mix-up between danceable disco beats and guitar-driven indie songwriting, Wave Machines debut album, Wave If You're Really There, is currently available for a limited offer of $6.99 via www.wavemachines.co.uk
Teenagersintokyo release their debut album 'Sacrifice' and single 'End It Tonight' through Back Yard Recordings (Chromeo, The Gossip) May 24th. Recorded at Bryn Derwen studios deep in the welsh countryside with Faultline mainman and twice Mercury Prize nominated Bat For Lashes producer David Kosten. The band have come a long way since their early beginnings- from playing The Great Escape, selling out venues across the UK, bagging support from the likes of Zane Lowe, XFM and the NME; and most recently topping the Hype Machine chart with The Horrors remix of 'Peter Pan'. Check out their latest remix here for free by UK band WORSHIP.

Encounters are a group based in London formed in the autumn of 2008CE. Eric Breslauer and Memo Guerra (exiles from Israel and Mexico, respectively) met in spring 2004CE while both were doing a degree in sound engineering and music production. They soon formed a partnership as a production duo. Guerra's partner, Akkia Neko soon joined him in London and expressed her desire to start a musical project of their own.
The three of them began playing the London circuit as a live electronics group garnering a modest following, however, the group wanted to expand their sound. A fourth member was required. Memo met Laura Anderson when he took a job at an independent record distribution company where Anderson was an accountant. When he learned she had a drum kit and was a fan of the Silver Apples and Neu!, he gave her a CD-R with music he'd been working on. She soon joined the group. The sound and style they produced together was a bold mixture of two extremes: from the straightest pop sensibilities to the harshest experimental noise, thus showcasing the four members' vast artistic influences and musical backgrounds. They each bring in their own interests, musically channeling their fascination with sound, film, literature, photography, art and design. Encounters boast a very diverse and interesting hybrid in their ever-evolving repertoire.
All four members exchange instruments and roles within the group, making music with electronic, analogue and acoustic instruments. Anything that makes a sound is welcome in their arsenal. The foursome intend to keep changing, experimenting with sound and to defy genre and category altogether within the complex lexicon of popular music. The only rule is: there are no rules...

VIVA BUGGED OUT!

Pias recordings is proud to present you our last animation video clip of the editors. We thought about you because of we appreciate your work and your blog. Feel free to publish the link on your website and to give us feedbacks.
This new video clip has been directed by the Lennox brothers. They already worked with Ghinzu, Kid cudi and Crookers…
I join you a video description by the Lennox brothers and the link on dailymotion:
"Ultimately the video paints a truthful picture of the lies which affect our current state of existence in a (so called) free world. From the moment we're born we are controlled, manipulated, and led astray from what really matters in life - freedom. We are orchestrated from high above; even our leaders are merely puppets/clowns with their strings being pulled by powerful groups out of sight. Conspiracy theories, Illuminati, The New World Order; the free world is no longer free, our decisions no longer our own. An Orwellian future which has come to be realised within our own lifetime - A case of the corrupt blind leading the free minds."

TAME IMPALA DEBUT ALBUM INNERSPEAKER OUT MAY 21ST (AUS) & JUNE 8TH (US) ON MODULAR RECORDINGS
Teenagersintokyo are set to (finally) release their debut album at the end of this month. Very exciting. The second single from the album is "End It Tonight" which you may remember from their debut EP some months ago. But it's fresh again with two new remixes from We Have Band and Nightschool.

The highly addictive result can be heard in The Amplifetes debut single "It´s my life", a spitting image of urban life and a happy three-part marriage between garage pop, electro and punk. It was featured recently in a promo campaign for Italian fashion house Roberto Cavalli, starring a lightly dressed Milla Jovovich, creating quite a stir over europe.
The framework for the production of material for The Amplifetes debut work was very much dictated, while not restricted, by geography and time. Due to the bandmembers being set up in two different cities, most of the writing and recording interaction took place late nights over the internet. In fact, it was not until the final mixing sessions that the full band actually met! This created a very special atmosphere for the creative process, described by lead singer Peter as "a feeling of weightlessness, like being trapped inside a bubble of soft stone." The faceless communication and stillness of night formed the backdrop for the emerging of The Amplifetes debut album, which has just been completed and is scheduled to hit the stores in early april. They have also been developing their live act and are booking now to tour the world in 2010.

Girls singing retro-tinged tunes with synchronised dance moves? A Machiavellian pop experiment inspired by KLF's The Manual cooked up in a Brighton boozer by the mysterious Svengali Monster Bobby? Well yes, but there's been an evolution - a change in the genetics. The Pipettes are back, and now they're a big shiny pop group. Or at least, that's what they'd like you to believe.
Australia-born singer and songwriter Sia (Zero 7) is set to release her fourth record 'We Are Born' on July 12th in the UK. It includes a dazzling collection of songs, produced by noted Los Angeles producer Greg Kurstin (Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Beck, Britney Spears, Kylie). It follows Sia's acclaimed 2008 'Some People Have Real Problems' record (Best Breakthrough Artist Album- 2009 Aria Awards). The new tracks sacrifice none of the raw emotionality that distinguished Sia's often more inward-leaning and languorous work, both with the cinematic U.K. duo Zero 7 and on her own previous recordings. The new songs comprise a kind of collection Sia has longed to unveil for years.
